On September 15, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) revealed a 15-person roster for the next ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The team will be led by Mohammad Nabi, and a few significant changes were made to the roster from the one that competed in the just finished Asia Cup 2022.
Darwish Rasooli, a top-order batter who has only played in four T20Is but made his T20I debut earlier this year, was named to the starting lineup. Qais Ahmed is a different spinner who has been added to the group but is still getting used to the international structure. The right-arm leg break bowler, who has only been in two T20 Internationals for Afghanistan thus far, has achieved success.
Mohammad Saleem Safi, 20, has been called up and is one of the 15 players on the squad despite having yet to play for his country internationally. The reserve players for the team are Afsar Zazai, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Gulbadin Naib, and Rahmat Shah. Notably, the team members Karim Janat, Samiullah Shinwari, Noor Ahmad, and Hashmatullah Shahidi who were seen at the Asia Cup 2022 have not been selected for the T20 World Cup squad.
