Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan, stated on Thursday that they were hoping Rashid Khan will be available for the last match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Rashid's absence from the first two games of the series, which starts on June 2 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota, dealt a severe setback to the Afghans. The second and third games are scheduled to take place at the same location on June 4 and 7, respectively.
"Rashid has a back issue, a little bit of a niggle on his back so we are praying for his recovery that he comes back. I think he will miss the first two games and he comes back to the squad," Shahidi told reporters on Thursday.
