Michael Carrick continued his unbeaten start as Manchester United's interim manager, and the former player will lead the Red Devils against Arsenal while Ralf Rangnick awaits his arrival.
Despite the largely successful results, Carrick's two games as Manchester United's manager have been far from perfection. Until their opener against Villarreal, they were the lesser of the two teams, and Chelsea dominated for the first half at the weekend.
Arsenal is likewise excelling under the guidance of a former midfielder, however, Mikel Arteta's project is producing far more pleasing results and performances.
Arsenal has only lost one of their past 12 games in all competitions, and that was against a red-hot Liverpool side. Although the game was a 4-0 thrashing, the game was closer than the score shows, and Arsenal fans may be delighted with how their season is progressing.
Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac will not play against United at Old Trafford, although Arteta expressed optimism that Bukayo Saka will be fit after suffering an injury against Newcastle United at the weekend.
"He has been one of the top coaches in every involvement he has had in the game, not only in coaching," Arteta said.
"He's made some radical changes in some areas and he's a really interesting person in the footballing world, a really interesting appointment for the club."
Rangnick, 63, will not be in charge of this game due to a pending work visa, therefore Michael Carrick will serve as caretaker. United are five points behind Arsenal in fifth position.
