The remaining games of Asia Cup 2023 will not include star Pakistani seamer Naseem Shah. Zaman Khan has been named as his replacement.
The 20-year-old last played in the Super 4 match against India, where he exited the field while delivering the 49th over of the first innings before completing his entire allotment of overs. Iftikhar Ahmed bowled the final four deliveries to end his spell with statistics of 0/53 in 9.2 overs.
Zaman Khan will take Naseem's position in Pakistan's upcoming Super 4 match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, September 14, at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo due to Naseem's right shoulder injury sustained against India.
He is being monitored by the Pakistani medical team, which is taking all required precautions with the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in mind, according to a report by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Right-arm bowler Zaman Khan, who will take over for Naseem, has played for Pakistan in six T20 Internationals and taken four wickets in that format.
