Bangladesh has selected fast bowling talent Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Yasir Ali, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy in their One-day International squad for the first time as they prepare to face Afghanistan in the series opener on February 23 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Bangladesh will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), followed by two Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is), with the five-match series ending on March 5.
While Ebadot, Yasir, and Mahmudul have all played Test cricket for Bangladesh, Nasum has only played T20I cricket.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin said, "Ebadot is a Test bowler, but he has been impressive with the white ball recently." "We considered him since he has worked hard on his control." "We are confident that he can get into the middle order." Joy had wonderful innings in the Test match (against New Zealand), so we are expecting something from him in the ODIs. He is a man of honor. If he plays with confidence, he can play for a long time. Nasum has been a regular starter in both T20Is and domestic cricket. ICC quoted Abedin as saying, "Shanto is a regular Test player, which gives us confidence that he will do well."
Abedin also stated that the selectors decided to rest Naim for the series due to his recent poor form, but that he expected him to improve. "When a player is out of form for an extended period, he becomes depressed. We should allow him time to recover and come back fresh, I thought. We're still keeping an eye on him. He'll be in our pool. I am confident that he will soon join the team."
The three-match series will take place in Chattogram from February 23 to 28 as part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Bangladesh is now ranked second on the table, while Afghanistan is ranked sixth.
