Bayern required a last-second goal to defeat their archrival Borussia Moenchengladbach, twice gave up leads to draw with the outstanding Bayer Leverkusen of Xabi Alonso, and nearly lost to Manchester United after allowing two late Casemiro goals.

Leipzig has won seven of eight games this season in all competitions, despite a turbulent off-season that saw them lose four first-team players, including top scorer Christopher Nkunku, Konrad Laimer, Josko Gvardiol, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
