In the first round of Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner will face Stan Wawrinka, one of the most accomplished talents on the Tour.
Sinner, the 10th seed, has won five tournament titles and has advanced at least as far as the fourth round at all three of the other Grand Slams. The Italian will have his work cut out for him when he faces former World No. 3 Wawrinka because he has yet to triumph in a tour-level match on grass.
The three-time Grand Slam champion, who will be making his 16th appearance at SW19, is now preparing for the tournament. His greatest performance so far has been a run to the quarterfinals in 2014 and 2015. However, both of Wawrinka's victories with Sinner in their ATP Head2Head series came in 2019, when Sinner was outside the Top 100 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. Wawrinka will start the match with a 2-0 advantage.
Sinner hopes to achieve a breakthrough victory on grass, thus this outstanding matchup should undoubtedly be entertaining.
