At the National Bank Open tournament Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed in the tournament and the World No. 4 presented, said he experienced pressure from his prestigious ATP Tour position for the first time.
The 19-year-old lost to American Tommy Paul on Wednesday in Montreal after blowing a match point in the second set. The final scores were 6-7(4), 7-6(7), 6-3.
In the second set tie-break, Alcaraz lost a break advantage and failed to capitalise on his match point after returning at 7/6. He was disappointed with the outcome and his inability to play his best tennis, even though he had anticipated a challenging opening encounter in his first hard-court competition since winning the Miami title in April.
