Eight players of the Afghanistan cricket team, who are presently on a three-ODI and two T20I tours of Bangladesh, have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, just eight days before the series starts on February 23.
Three members of the touring party's support staff have also tested positive, according to a report from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sources.
"The rest of the (Afghanistan) squad took part in the opening day of their week-long camp in Sylhet today (Tuesday), while those who tested positive were isolated," according to the report.
The squad will relocate to Chattogram after their week-long training camp in Sylhet, where the three One-Day Internationals will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Cricket Stadium. The dates for the second and third One-Day Internationals are February 25 and 28, respectively.
After that, the teams will travel to Dhaka for a two-match T20I series at Mirpur's Shere Bangla National Stadium. The first T20I will take place on March 3, followed by the second T20I on March 5.
The ODIs will be part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, while the T20Is will be part of the ICC T20I Rankings.
Bangladesh selected fast bowling sensation Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Yasir Ali, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy in their 15-man ODI squad for the first time on Tuesday.
