IPL 2021: MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, is nearing the end of his IPL career, but the wicket-keeper batsman has no plans to retire this season. Dhoni has guaranteed supporters that they will be able to see his final game from the Chennai venue.
On Tuesday (October 5), the veteran mingled with admirers at India Cements' 75th-anniversary celebration. During the conversation, Dhoni expressed his desire to play his final game in the lucrative league in front of a home crowd in Chennai.
The 40-year-old had this to say about his final match:
"When it comes to farewell, you can still come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. So, you will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, you will come to see me in Chennai when I play my last game over there and I can meet the fans there."
MS Dhoni's illustrious international career came to an end unexpectedly on August 15, 2020. Fans will be able to watch his farewell game in the IPL from the stands at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, according to his newest statement.
Dhoni has been the captain of the Chennai-based franchise since the tournament first started. And he has left his mark as CSK has one of the best win percentages in the competition. Other teams consider it a challenge to win against Chennai powerhouse players. After a poor season last year, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have made a strong recovery in the latest edition of the IPL. In the 2021 season, the three-time winners became the first club to secure a berth in the crucial playoffs.
Dhoni's batting problems, on the other hand, will be a source of concern for CSK as the tournament progresses. So far in IPL live T20 tournament, the swashbuckling batsman has accumulated just 84 runs from 13 games, with a strike rate of 97.67.
Dhoni's next appearance will be against the Punjab Kings in CSK's last league match on Thursday, October 7. The afternoon match between the two star-studded squads will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
