In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the in-form Daniil Medvedev put on an outstanding serving display to defeat Quentin Halys and go to the 2023 Miami Open presented by Itau quarterfinals.
The fourth seed defeated the World No. 79 in 70 minutes, winning 82 percent (32/39) of the points behind his first serve in a match that was postponed until after midnight in South Florida owing to rain. He also faced no break points during that time. The 27-year-old will seek to extend his recent hot form into his last-eight match against home favourite Christopher Eubanks as he advances to his third consecutive quarterfinal in Miami.
The four-time ATP Masters 1000 champion is going for his first victory at this level since his triumph in Toronto in 2021 in Miami.
