South Africa captain Dean Elgar is happy that pacer Kagiso Rabada will play his 50th Test when the team takes the field against India in the series decider on Tuesday at Newlands. Rabada has 229 wickets at an average of 22.57 in 49 Test matches since his debut against India in Mohali in 2015, with 10 five-wicket deliveries.
"KG has been great for your country, having played in 50 Tests. When KG first started, he was really raw and moved at a rapid speed. In that timespan, I believe he has grown. On and off the field, he has had a huge impact on our group. I'm glad that KG will be playing his 50th Test match. It occurs so rapidly that it's easy to forget that you're all getting a little older "During the pre-match Elgar stated.
"It's still early in his Test career, in my view. KG is only 26 years old and has already played 50 Tests. From the perspective of Test cricket, he still has a lot to give us. Hopefully, it will last a long time. But he's come a long way as a cricketer since he was a kid, and he's taken on a lot more responsibility. He has shown a lot of great growth for us so far on his journey "Elgar added.
Elgar also stated that all players of his team are healthy and ready to play in the series' third and final Test. "To the best of my knowledge, everyone is healthy and ready to leave. I don't believe there are any issues with the players' fitness. When you play in a series, there are sure to be small problems, especially with Test cricket pushing our bodies to their limits. We're all fine, and there's just a little bit of wear and tear going on right now, which is fine."
"With everyone fit and in good shape, I don't see us making too many major changes to the team. If we want to be constant with our results while participating in a large Test series and attempting to be as steady as possible with our playing eleven, I believe we need to try and apply a fair selection towards our surroundings."
