In Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Brentford, 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri set a new record for being the youngest player in Premier League history. In stoppage time at Brentford Community Stadium, the English offensive midfielder, who was born in March 2007, came in for the Gunners in place of Fabio Vieira.
Harvey Elliott's record was surpassed by Nwaneri at the age of 15 years and 181 days. Liverpool midfielder Elliott joined Fulham in 2019 at the age of 16 months and 30 days.
After 91 minutes and two seconds, Vieira, who had scored the third goal, was replaced by Nwaneri. Before the game, which lasted 94 minutes and 44 seconds, ended, he was actively involved for three minutes and 42 seconds.
He is the first player in the Premier League under 16 to have ever played. Nwaneri played for England's Under-16 team when he was 14 and has made multiple appearances for Arsenal's Under-18 team. Following victories for Manchester City and Tottenham on Saturday, Arsenal's victory over Brentford propelled them back to the top of the standings.
