In an exciting Big Bash League 2021-22 final at Docklands Stadium in Melbourne, the Perth Scorchers will face the Sydney Sixers. The two teams have been the most consistent in the competition's history and will attempt to add to their trophy collection.
Perth Scorchers faced Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier after winning their group. The Scorchers beat the Sixers comprehensively in a brilliant all-round performance to secure a spot in the final.
The Scorchers scored 189 runs in their first innings, losing only three wickets. The bowlers then stepped up to dismiss the Sixers for 141 runs, resulting in a 48-run win. They will be hoping to repeat their success against the Sixers.
The Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, had to take a more difficult path to the final. They met the Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger after losing to the Scorchers in the Qualifier and came out on top in a close match.
The Sixers enjoyed a great start bowling first, picking up three wickets in quick succession. They were unable to make any inroads, though, as the Strikers scored 167 runs in their 20 overs.
Hayden Kerr was sent to start the batting due to a number of players dropping out, and he played the innings of his life, scoring an unbeaten 98 to help his side cross the line on the last ball.
So far, we've seen some heated battles between these rival sides. On Friday, another one is expected. In the Big Bash League final of 2022, it will all come down to controlling emotions in high-pressure situations.
