During "one of the toughest periods of my career," Phil Foden claims he feels "100% fit" after helping Manchester City defeat Bristol City in the Championship to advance to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a double. After some underwhelming performances after the World Cup, England's attacking midfielder Foden lost his spot in his team's starting lineup.
But after scoring against Bournemouth on Saturday, he has now scored three goals in four days, prompting Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to declare Foden "back for the greatest bit of the season."
Riyad Mahrez's pass across the six-yard box found the 22-year-old at the back post, where he smashed in the first goal. After receiving a feed from Julian Alvarez, he scored again, this time with a first-time shot that beat Max O'Leary. Late in the game, the visitors' Kevin de Bruyne added a fantastic third goal from 25 yards out into the bottom corner.
