The IPL 2022 mega auction is just a few weeks away, and the two new teams will announce three retention departments before the date January 22. Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill, all-rounders, are expected to join the Ahmedabad franchise for the IPL 2022 season. According to the new rules, CVC Capitals' franchise will have a purse of 90 crores, with its three retention departments costing Rs 15 crore, Rs 11 crore, and Rs 7 crore.
Former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra has been appointed as bowling coach, and Gary Kirsten has been appointed as head coach, for the Ahmedabad franchise. Vickram Solanki, a former England batsman, is supposed to be the side's director and will be part of the support staff. This is the second time the trio has worked together for a franchise, having previously done so with the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is supposed to lead the Ahmedabad franchise, which will be his first job as a franchise captain. Pandya struggled in the previous IPL season, which was affected by several injuries, and he was released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the big auctions. However, his contribution to the Mumbai Indians' success over the years has been great, and he is deserved of the new position.
Rashid Khan, the second reserve, has only ever played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the IPL, and this will be his first stay with a new franchise. The leggie is by far the best spinner in the format right now, and he has the potential to be the match-winner that any franchise would love to have in their lineup.
Shubman Gill, on the other hand, was expected to be retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise, but with so many choices, other teams will have a chance. He has been projected as one of India's future captains as well as an IPL franchise captain. The 22-year-old has been retained for 7 Crores while Rashid and Pandya have been retained for 11 and 15 Crores respectively.
