On November 24, Sri Lanka Cricket announced a 16-player squad for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka's first series following the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will be a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home.
Due to the need for consent from Sri Lanka's Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, the team announcement was released unusually late. The Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium will serve as the site for all three games, with the first ODI set to begin play on November 25, Friday, and the final match taking place there on November 30.
Both Asian teams will try to bounce back from their Super 12 stage exits at the T20I World Cup 2022 in Australia. The two sides have had time to recover since then and will now face off on the field.
Regarding their head-to-head records, Sri Lanka has defeated Afghanistan three times while the latter has only prevailed once in their four ODI encounters yet.
