The Brazilian has revealed that the atmosphere behind the scenes at Camp Nou is "weird" now that the club's all-time leading striker has left the club.
Dani Alves has stated his desire to see Lionel Messi return to Barcelona from PSG, encouraging the Catalan giants to "take care of it" and give his ex-teammate a "wonderful gift."
During his 20-year spell at Barcelona, Messi established himself as one of the game's all-time greats. However, due to La Liga pay rules, the club was unable to re-sign him last summer.
In addition to winning multiple Spanish titles and Champions League titles at Camp Nou, he was also the Blaugrana's top scorer, and he subsequently joined PSG on a free transfer, but Alves believes he can be convinced to retrace his steps.
After five and a half years gone, Alves returned to Barcelona, but claims the mood behind the scenes isn't the same without Messi.
The Brazilian full-back has asked the club to bring back the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner so that he may finish his great career in his home country, telling Catalunya Radio: "Messi is the best player in the history of football. It’s strange to be here and not see him, to not have him in the squad.
"Sometimes things don’t happen as we dream. I already told him that he is not going to be in any better place than here.
"He told me the same when I left. It would be very good if Messi finishes his career here. Finishing it here would be a great gift for him, and the club could take care of it."
