Despite losing Rohit Sharma early in the batting order, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli rose to the situation and produced some amazing cricket to set the tone for the game. Kohli scored 88 runs, while Shubman Gill managed to reach 92, both of them missing their respective hundreds. Shreyas Iyer demonstrated his class towards the end of the innings by hitting 82 runs off of just 56 deliveries.

In the chase, the Lankan Lions were bowled out for just 55 runs as the Indian pacers once again shocked Sri Lanka's batting lineup.
