Afghanistan increased their hopes of making the current ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals by defeating the Netherlands by a comfortable seven wickets in Lucknow. With the win, they now have eight points to their name and are breathing on the shoulders of New Zealand, who are currently fourth on the points table.
The Netherlands did well at first when they batted first, but they lost a few of wickets early and were unable to recover from it.
In the history of ODI cricket, four of their batters were run out. They managed to hold things together, though, and after the first innings they scored 179. Mohammad Nabi, the oldest member of the Afghanistan team, picked up three wickets in the middle, while the youngest one, Noor Ahmad, picked up two wickets.
Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi once again delivered with the bat, and hence, Afghanistan picked another win in the ongoing ODI World Cup. Shah managed to score 52 runs and was extremely disappointed following his dismissal, while Shahidi stuck till the end to register their fourth win in the competition.
