On Day 2 of the current second Test match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Sri Lanka posted a total of 28 for one against India at Stumps, behind by 419 runs.
On Day 3, Sri Lanka will bat again, with Dimuth Karunaratne (10*) and Kusal Mendis (16*). In the meantime, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Lahiru Thirimanne for a three-ball duck.
Rishabh Pant (50) and Shreyas Iyer (50) both scored half-centuries as India declared at 303 for nine (67). Praveen Jayawickrama and Lasith Embuldeniya each grabbed four wickets for Sri Lanka. On Day 2, India bowled Sri Lanka out for 109 and grabbed a 143-run lead after Jasprit Bumrah's five-for.
Angelo Mathews led the way for the visitors with a 43-run blast in a game when the rest of the lineup struggled. Bumrah's five-for was also his first in India. R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami, on the other hand, both grabbed two wickets.
India had been knocked out for 252 runs earlier, with Shreyas Iyer just missing out on a century. The batter hammered 92 runs off 98 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes in the process.
Meanwhile, the visiting bowling duo of Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama each got three wickets. Suranga Lakmal took a wicket while Dhananjaya de Silva took two wickets.
