India won West Indies by 44 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Prasidh Krishna took four wickets.
West Indies lost two wickets in the powerplay while chasing a total of 238, thanks to Prasidh's amazing opening innings.
As Indian bowlers forced the issue, the West Indies continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, unable to establish any partnerships. With a 54-ball-41-run partnership, Shamarh Brooks and Akeal Hosein attempted to balance the innings.
Brooks was taken after scoring 44 runs, but Hosein continued with Fabian Allen. In 49 balls, the partnership added 42 runs, putting the team closer to the total.
Odean Smith took on the Indian bowlers, but his late push failed to obtain momentum, and West Indies lost by 44 runs. Prasidh Krishna finished with numbers of 4/12 in nine overs to win the match.
Earlier, stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. India lost three wickets in the first 12 overs, showing that the decision was correct.
The Indian management made a surprising decision by starting Rishabh Pant in the first inning. Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for only five runs. Pant failed to adjust to his new position, scoring 18 runs in 34 balls.
In 49 balls, Pant and Virat Kohli scored 30 runs for the second wicket. Odean Smith bowled both of them out in the same over, reducing India to 43/3 in 12 overs.
KL With their 90-run fourth-wicket stand, Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav tried to rebuild the inning. Rahul seems to be in great form for his 48-ball-49. Rahul went out in an unusual manner just when he looked to be on his way to scoring freely.
Suryakumar and Washington Sundar added 43 runs in 55 balls as Suryakumar continued to rotate the strike. Suryakumar tried to clear Fabian Allen in the 39th over, but a top edge sent him back to the pavilion after scoring 64 runs.
With eight overs remaining, India lost the seventh wicket to Sundar, who tried to go big but found the fielder at the boundary. Deepak Hooda tried his hardest to play with the lower order, but he was restricted in his ability to hit big shots. At the end of the innings, India managed to score 237/9.
Alzarri Joseph and Odean Smith each took two wickets, and the rest of the bowling lineup each took one wicket.
Brief Scorecard: India - 237/9, West Indies - 193/10
