In the third match against Sri Lanka on Sunday (January 15) at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, India won by the largest ODI margin of 317 runs. As India batted first, they amassed a substantial total of 390/5 thanks in large part to the heroics of Virat Kohli, who scored 166* off 110 balls and Shubman Gill, who added 110 runs to his impressive ODI run.
Mohammed Siraj dominated the Sri Lankan batters. In the second over, he eliminated Avishka Fernando, and Sri Lanka never seemed to mount a challenge after that. Siraj took three more wickets to put an end to Sri Lanka's chances of triumph.
With the help of two additional wickets from Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Shami, Sri Lanka was dismissed for just 73 runs in 22 overs.
This is the biggest-ever win in ODIs by a margin of runs. India's next assignment starts on January 18 with a six-match white-ball series against New Zealand while Sri Lanka travel to New Zealand on March 9 for two Tests and a six-match white-ball tour.
