Inter Milan and Chelsea have discussed bringing Romelu Lukaku back to the San Siro on loan; the Belgian striker rejoined Chelsea from a Serie A club last summer, but only scored eight Premier League goals. Inter Milan are convinced that a loan deal for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku can be completed. The clubs met again today to discuss the details of the deal. Lukaku cost Chelsea £97.5 million last summer, although he only scored eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances.
Lukaku stated in December that he wished to return to Inter in the future. He said: "I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more."
Inter were told last week that they couldn't afford to sign Lukaku on a permanent basis, despite the fact that he scored 64 goals in 95 games for the club and helped them win the Serie A title during his time there. Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has stated that the club is "not in a hurry" to bring Lukaku back, but that the club is still interested in re-signing him this summer.
