Ireland named their 15-player squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 on Tuesday, September 20, with skipper Andrew Balbirnie ready to take charge.
Following their remarkable T20I series victory against Afghanistan at home, Balbirnie and his team will take on their first significant task under the direction of Head Coach Heinrich Malan at the major event in Australia the month later.
In August of this year, Ireland hosted Afghanistan for a five-match T20I series at home, which it won 3-2. Ireland's victory in the first two games, which they won by scores of seven and five wickets, respectively, proved decisive.
On September 29, 2022, Ireland team will fly to Australia. In order to play a three-match warm-up series hosted by their alliance partners Randwick Petersham Cricket Club, they will first fly to Sydney. After playing two official ICC Men's T20 World Cup warm-up matches in Melbourne, they will then travel to Hobart for the start of the tournament.
