The England team management appears to have chosen to replace the failing opening batter, Jason Roy, ahead of the England team's first visit of Pakistan since 2005. Even worse, it appears that the Englishman is no longer part of England's plans for their forthcoming T20 World Cup campaign.
Since the 2015 World Cup, the 32-year-old has been a core of the English white-ball squad and was one of the most dependable players for the recently retired Eoin Morgan. One of the key factors in England's victory at the 2019 World Cup was his prolific hitting and fearless cricket at the top of the order.
However, after a difficult summer with the national team, his bad form has sadly continued as he has struggled to score runs in the Hundred, starting his campaign with three ducks in four innings and registering 51 runs at an average of 8.50.
Will Jacks, his domestic starting partner, has captured fans' attention with his batting skills and is being considered by selectors to take the position of his senior opening partner. Phil Salt, who made his T20I debut for England earlier this year, will also be on the roster to replace Roy as an opening batter. With 313 runs under his belt, the 26-year-old is the second-highest run scorer in The Hundred and has been in blazing form.
Ben Stokes, the red-ball captain of England, is another well-known player who is probably going to miss the upcoming tour because of his decision to switch to the Test team, as the current South Africa Test series will end just days before the white-ball side departs for the subcontinent.
