Jos Buttler extended his excellent streak for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2022 by hitting his second century of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday.
After being assigned to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium, the 31-year-old struck 103 runs off 61 balls with nine fours and five sixes to help RR achieve a massive total of 217/5.
Buttler had earlier this season smashed a century against Mumbai Indians, and he cemented his hold on the Orange Cap with another outstanding performance against KKR on Monday. This was his third century in the Indian Premier League.
“He’s been excellent, the best T20 opener in the world,” said RR coach Kumar Sangakkara after Buttler’s century on Monday. “We are very lucky to have him. He’s been batting really well, really deep into the innings. Not just about the powerplay. And that’s why he’s got the Orange Cap.
After being asked to bat first, Buttler attacked the likes of Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, and Umesh Yadav to help RR post a massive score of 217/5. This was his third century in the Indian Premier League.
With his century, the right-handed opener joined a select group of IPL players who have scored multiple hundreds in a single season.
