Manish Pandey, an experienced batsman, has been selected as captain of the Karnataka side for the Ranji Trophy season 2021-22. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) named a 20-man squad for the Ranji season on Tuesday.
This season, India's primary domestic championship will be broken into two halves by the Indian Premier League (IPL). The first phase will be held from February 10 to March 15, followed by the second phase from May 30 to June 26. The IPL is expected to start in the final week of March.
KSCA updated its social media accounts with information about Karnataka's Ranji Trophy squad. Samarth R has been selected vice-captain, while Pandey has been named captain. The 20-member squad also includes Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Gopal, and Prasidh Krishna.
Karnataka has been grouped with Puducherry, Railways, and Jammu & Kashmir in the Elite C group.
