On Thursday, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered their fifth straight loss of the season when Delhi Capitals won a strange Indian Premier League encounter by four wickets and six balls with six balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It was an odd match, with neither side producing particularly high-quality cricket, but the troubles for Shreyas Iyer's KKR, who are failing in every department, grew. Kuldeep Yadav was by far the best Delhi bowler on the night, but he only bowled three overs for four runs. KKR were reduced to 83/6 as Rishabh Pant's spectacular low catch dismissed Shreyas Iyer, followed by the stumping of Andre Russell. They did, however, manage to eke out a respectable total of 146/9.
The KKR top-order struggled against the Capitals' bowlers at the Wankhede Stadium, with the exception of skipper Shreyas Iyer (42). Even if the others failed to leave KKR reeling at 35/4 at one point, Nitish Rana top-scored with 57 off 34 balls and struck three fours and four sixes at number six. Kuldeep Yadav was the most outstanding bowler, taking 4/14 in three overs, while Mustafizur Rahman grabbed three wickets in the final.
DC managed to catch up to the target with six balls to spare, but not without a few blunders. DC's opener, David Warner, hit 42 off 26 pitches. When DC were in trouble after losing a few wickets, Rovman Powell came in to save the day.
