After a poor middle-order show, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) added 138 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday in Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Sunil Narine was the standout performer for KKR with his four wickets. The Caribbean dismissed all the big names in the RCB batting lineup. Apart from Narine, Lokie Ferguson got two wickets.
RCB skipper Virat Kohli top-scored for his team as he played a steady 33-ball 39-run knock. Bangalore finished third in the league stage with 18 points while Kolkata were the last team to qualify for the playoffs with 14 points.
Narine starred for KKR as he dismissed Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and KS Bharat to restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to 139/7 in 20 overs.
Shubman Gill (29) and Sunil Narine (26) helped KKR chase down 139 quite comfortably in the end even though the match went till the last over thanks.
Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal kept taking wickets at regular intervals interrupting the flow of Kolkata Knight Riders' 139-run chase.
In the end, it was up to captain Eoin Morgan and Shakib al Hasan in the final over, as they needed 7 runs to win in 6 balls. Shakib scored a boundary on the final ball and then the two batsmen finished things off with three singles in next three balls.
