In 2014, Kevin Krawietz and Fabrice Martin participated in their maiden match on the ITF World Tennis Circuit. Nine years later, on Saturday, they achieved their biggest triumph together.
The German-French team defeated sixth-seeded Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden, the winners of last week's Indian Wells tournament, 7-5, 4-6, 10-4, to advance to the second round of the Miami Open presented by Itau.
The past two weeks saw Krawietz and Martin win a match at the BNP Paribas Open and an ATP Challenger Tour event in Phoenix before losing in the second round at both tournaments. They will go up against Dutchmen Matwe Middelkoop and Robin Haase in an effort to defy the trend.
