Liverpool and RB Leipzig are in discussions about Liverpool possibly acquiring Dominik Szoboszlai from the German club. The 22-year-old offensive midfielder from Hungary helped Leipzig win the German Cup and finish third in the Bundesliga last year. The representatives of Szoboszlai's camp met Liverpool, who are trying to strengthen their midfield.
Earlier in the week a move which seemed doubtful is now a possibility. According to rumours, Szoboszlai has a release clause of approximately £60 million that expires on Friday. Szoboszlai played 31 times for Leipzig in the Bundesliga last year, contributing eight assists and six goals. In 91 appearances since his January 2021 transfer from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, he has contributed 20 goals and 21 assists.
Argentinean Alexis Mac Allister was added to Liverpool's midfield earlier this month when he was acquired from Brighton for £35 million. With James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving the club this summer, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen that area of the pitch.
