There are rumours that Ismael Bennacer, a Milan midfielder with a €50 million release clause, is being pursued by Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in particular.
The Premier League clubs expressed interest in the Algerian international after he helped the Rossoneri win their first Serie A championship in more than ten years. In particular, Liverpool has made a serious offer to Bennacer this summer. After already losing Franck Kessie to a free agency and missing out on LOSC player Renato Sanches to PSG, Stefano Pioli is reluctant to allow him to depart.
Bennacer, who is only 24 years old, has already made 120 Serie A matches and earned 39 senior Algerian caps. In the summer of 2019, Milan paid €17.2 million to sign him from Empoli. Prior to that, he attended the Arsenal youth academy. His agreement with the Diavolo runs through June 2024, but there are rumours that Milan would like to prolong it in exchange for an increase in his pay and a release clause that would be doubled to €100 million.
