After missing nearly a year due to a fractured leg, Manuel Neuer, the captain and goalkeeper for Bayern Munich, is set to return on Saturday in the team's home Bundesliga encounter against Darmstadt, coach Thomas Tuchel announced on Friday.
The 37-year-old, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, hasn't played since sustaining the injury in a skiing mishap in December of last year, only a few days after returning from representing his nation in the World Cup in Qatar.
At a news conference, Tuchel assured reporters, "He will play tomorrow as long as nothing happens in training." "He is delighted, we are delighted, and others will probably be delighted too," Tuchel said with a smile. Neuer has not played for Bayern since a victory away to his old club Schalke on November 12 last year, just before the World Cup.
