After defeating the struggling Auxerre 2-1 on Sunday, Kylian Mbappe's double put Paris St. Germain on the verge of a record 11th Ligue 1 title. The defending champions PSG are six points ahead of Lens in second place and need just one point from their next two games to clinch the league.
For the visitors, top scorer Mbappe scored twice in the first eight minutes. Auxerre, who are still in danger of being demoted, answered through Lassine Sinayoko. With the win, PSG will be assured of winning the championship if they avoid losing to Racing Strasbourg the following Saturday. Mbappe, 24, has played in 41 games this season and has scored 40 goals and provided nine assists, including 33 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games.
Two minutes later, the France international bent in a beautiful first-time strike after showing excellent movement as he twisted and turned in the box to create space for the first goal. Last season, PSG tied the all-time record of 10 French championships held by Marseille and Saint-Etienne. PSG has won eight of the last ten Ligue 1 matches.
