Daniil Medvedev defeated Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-2 to win the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Saturday, giving him an ATP Tour hat-trick.
The third seed, who defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals to halt the Serbian's perfect start to the season, displayed consistency throughout the 68-minute contest to extend his winning streak to 14 games. Medvedev, who won prizes in Rotterdam and Doha in February, joined Felix Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud as the third player since 2021 to win three championships in a row.
The 27-year-old has improved to No. 6 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings, surpassing Rublev, who drops to No. 7. This is due to his good performance on hard courts. Following his Tour-leading 19th victory of the year, Medvedev moved to 5-2 versus Rublev, 25, in their head-to-head ATP matchups.
