Ben Stokes, the captain of England, is quite impressed with pacer Josh Tongue after he pulled up an incredible five wickets in the second innings of the one-off Test match at Lord's against Ireland. Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, and James Anderson were not there, but the 25-year-old stepped up to do the task.
Notably, Stokes noted that Tongue played his part flawlessly during England's 10-wicket victory over their neighbours at Lord's. Stokes also praised Tongue's adaptability and said he was willing to bowl in any circumstance.
“He was very unlucky not to get a wicket in the first innings but he definitely reaped the rewards [in the second]. I told him to just run in and do what you do - and then I'll worry about the rest of the stuff. Let the lad go out and bowl in the way that's got him here in the first place,” the skipper mentioned.
