On Friday, February 25, Lahore Qalandars will face Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 of the 2022 Pakistan Super League (PSL). The match will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Qalandars finished second in the table with 12 points and a net run rate of 0.765, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Multan Sultans defeated them by 28 runs in the Qualifier on Wednesday. The Qalandars bowlers did a good job after electing to field first, limiting the Sultans to 163 runs.
Samit Patel and Mohammad Hafeez both took one wicket. Following that, Fakhar Zaman gave it his all to pursue the target, but his efforts were in vain. With two fours and four sixes, the southpaw scored 63 runs off 45 balls. He, on the other hand, did not receive adequate backing from the others.
United, on the other side, captained by Shadab Khan, made their way to the playoffs with four wins out of ten games. After edging out the Quetta Gladiators on net run rate, they made progress. On Thursday, they defeated Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets in Eliminator 1.
Zalmi scored 169 for five in their first innings after deciding to bat first. Half-centuries were scored by Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik. For United, Hasan Ali took three wickets. After that, Alex Hales hit 62 off 49 balls, including six fours and three sixes, to help United cross the finish line.
The batting surface at Gaddafi Stadium has been superb. On the batting-friendly strip in Lahore, bowlers will have little chance of error. After winning the toss, a team may elect to bat first and put runs on the board in a tight match.
