Pakistan won the three-match T20I series against West Indies 2-0 with a narrow nine-run victory in Karachi on Tuesday
Losing early wickets in the powerplay, Pakistan was supported by Mohammad Rizwan and Haider Ali, who put up a 48-run stand to win support. Going up to the final overs, the opponents were down to 4 for 41, but Shadab Khan's quick 28 not out and Iftikhar Ahmed's lusty hits at the end let them finish with a strong 172 for 8.
With his first T20I fifty, Brandon King led West Indies' run.
With his first T20I fifty, Brandon King led West Indies' run, but his departure, along with a three-wicket over from Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Brandon King's early exit restricted West Indies of chances to speed the death overs, and if that wasn't enough, Shaheen Afridi's triple-wicket 17th over was up to mark. The West Indies' required 46 off 24, and Smith took over at the other end during King's quick effort, but he was soon finished by Asif Ali's magnificent boundary-line catch, which saw the gentle indication accepted after several replays from all angles.
King was lucky twice early in his innings: once when a heavy edge came up short of mid-off in the fourth over, and again when Babar's under-arm throw missed the stumps four balls later. And he made sure Pakistan was punished. With his 43-ball 67, the West Indies opener took advantage to keep his team in-game. As West Indies were 1-1 with Pakistan at the middle stage, King stitched a 54-run stand with Nicholas Pooran at the other end.
On the fifth and sixth delivery, Afridi bowled Drakes and Walsh for golden ducks, leaving WI empty-handed at 131 for 8 at the end of the 17th over. Shepherd, out of partners, hit two sixes and as many boundaries to fight alone, but his perfect 35 off 19 did little but reduce the margin of their loss.
