Pep Guardiola believes that Phil Foden can still get better after he scored twice as Manchester City produced a devastating first-half display to beat Brighton and move up to second in the Premier League.
Foden was playing as a forward against the Seagulls, took his tally to four for the season with his brace as he helped make sure of a win that moved City up to second. Now they are just two points behind Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has played in a number of positions this season and Guardiola praised the versatility of the England international, and warned there is even more to come from him.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says: "It's really good because I knew which team we face today.
"It was a good lesson, for 30 minutes they were better than us. This game must be played with the ball.
"We suffered and for the future we'll be good.
"This is a huge victory for us. [To win here] is a big compliment for the team.
"We won the game because we have good players. Don't ask me too much about the decisions of the managers.
"They are aggressive and when they have the ball they know what they have to do. They have all the mechanisms of a big team.
"They have courage. I admire them for that. They play like a top four or five team.
"I like Phil [Foden], he knows how to play football. We can have an extra man in the positions we want to play. He has the quality to do that.
"He scored two goals and he could have scored more. He'll improve."
Brighton boss Graham Potter says "Fantastic performance wise, so proud of the players, playing against a top team that deserved to win, but the players gave everything.
"Of course, it's disappointing to lose. We have to say Manchester City were better but our performance was something to be proud of.
"We gave a cheap goal away, the first goal, and against this quality opposition it can be difficult.
"We made a couple of errors that got punished but the players didn't feel sorry for themselves and up to the 85th minute they were fantastic. We ran out of steam a little but but we will take a lot from this game."
On the first goal: "I've not seen it back, but it is just one of those things. It wasn't the best goal from our perspective but it happens."
"It's not dented at all. I can't be prouder of the team. It's not easy playing this type of opposition."
"Our players were amazing. Fantastic. I've no complaints with the result. Manchester City were better than us, deserved with the win but very pleased with our performance going forward."
