The UEFA Super Cup was won by Real Madrid on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and David Alaba. Frankfurt posed a threat, especially in the first half, but Madrid's expertise and individual strength carried them to victory, as they frequently did throughout their successful 2021–22 Champions League campaign. "It wasn't an easy game, they were entrenched in their own half, but we managed to score and we controlled it well afterwards," Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti told Movistar TV.
The experienced French striker Benzema had an especially memorable night as his goal gave him 324 goals for the Spanish team, one more than Raul.
The only Real player with more goals than Benzema is Cristiano Ronaldo, who amassed 450.
