Renato Sanches has committed to the French champions Paris St-Germain for five years, till June 2027. The 24-year-old midfielder from Portugal moves to Paris from Lille, where he won the Ligue 1 championship in 2020–21.
He joined Lille from Bayern Munich in August 2019 and scored six goals in 90 games. While at Bayern, Sanches spent a brief period of the 2017–18 Premier League season playing on loan at Swansea City. This summer, the graduate of the Benfica academy had also been linked to the Italian champions AC Milan. Sanches previously collaborated with Christophe Galtier, the PSG manager, while they were both at Lille.
He is PSG's fourth summer acquisition, following the signings of France defender Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig, Vitinha, a Portuguese midfielder on a five-year contract from Porto, and French striker Hugo Ekitike on a season-long loan from Reims. He is the third manager to be announced since new boss Galtier took over last month and replaced Mauricio Pochettino.
