Aryna Sabalenka, who recently won the Australian Open, led a lot of noteworthy changes in the most recent WTA Rankings after the first Grand Slam tournament of the 2023 season concluded.
Sabalenka is back at No. 2, which is her career high. The 24-year-old has accumulated 3,525 ranking points over the course of her last three competitions. Sabalenka won 470 points for winning Adelaide 1 and 955 points for coming in second place at the 2017 WTA Finals, in addition to the 2,000 points she received for winning the championship.
Sabalenka is currently 4,385 points behind Iga Swiatek, the current world number one, despite her recent triumph. Sabalenka is defending 1,115 ranking points through Roland Garros, compared to Swiatek's 6,270 points.
Swiatek's 44 straight weeks at No. 1 were the fourth-longest streak after a debut in that position. Serena Williams (57), Martina Hingis (80), and Stefanie Graf (186) all had longer initial ascents.
