The Indian Super League (ISL) got underway on Sunday with a 1-1 draw between SC East Bengal and Jamshedpur FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco de Gama, Goa.
In the 17th minute, Franjo Prce opened the scoring for East Bengal, but Peter Hartley equalized for Jamshedpur FC in the 45th minute. Jamshedpur FC pushed for the win, but neither team was able to secure it.
SC East Bengal's counter-attack in the seventh minute created the first opening of the match in a tight start as both teams checked each other out. The Jamshedpur FC goal was promptly scored by TP Rehenesh following a cross from the flank by Lalrinliana Hnamte.
In the 17th minute, the Red and Golds beat East Bengal on the counter and from a corner to score. After Bikash Jairu's corner was punched away by Rehenesh, East Bengal sent it back into the box where Prce guided it goalward. He took multiple spins before finding the net for Jamshedpur FC.
As a result, the teams settled for a draw to earn their first points of the season.
In their next match, Jamshedpur FC will take on FC Goa, and SC East Bengal will face ATK Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata derby on Saturday.
