In the third round of the Australian Open on Friday, Sebastian Korda outplayed Daniil Medvedev to continue building on his strong start to 2023. He won 7-6(7), 6-3, 7-6(4).
From the opening point, the American hit the ball with assurance against Medvedev, the seventh-seeded player. In order to earn a spot in the fourth round, he successfully converted five out of ten break points and maintained composure in the first and third set tie-breaks.
Korda's victory took him two hours and 59 minutes, and it propelled him up to position 28 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings. After the Australian Open, he is now poised to achieve a new career high. Former World No. 1 Medvedev, now ranked No. 12, dropped out of the Top 10 in the Live Rankings after this loss.
