The French Football Federation has revealed that several players for France have cold, with Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate the most recent to become unwell and skip practise.
Due to illness, defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Adrien Rabiot were unable to participate in Wednesday's semifinal victory over Morocco. The afflicted, according to striker Randal Kolo Muani, were secluded in their rooms. At 15:30 GMT on Sunday, the France-Argentina World Cup final will take place.
"Those who are sick stay in their rooms," said Kolo Muani. "They're being taken care of by the doctors and we've been enforcing social distancing. We're very strict about it." Saying the squad "were not scared" of the virus: "We've been taking precautions and I think everyone will be ready," Forward Ousmane Dembele agreed.
The France manager Didier Deschamps had stated on Wednesday that he anticipated Upamecano and Rabiot to be healthy enough to play in the finals. He will have a selection conundrum if Konate and Varane are ruled out, given they are two of his top three defenders.
