Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh became the third cricketer to score 7000 runs and take 300 wickets in one-day internationals (ODI). On March 18, Hasan attained the milestone while playing Ireland in the opening ODI at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh. He entered the elite list when he scored 24 runs in the 20th over of Bangladesh’s innings.
Sanath Jayasuriya, a legend cricketer of Sri Lanka, and Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, were the first two players to accomplish the feat before Shakib. Shakib is Bangladesh's second-highest run scorer overall in the format, trailing only ODI captain Tamim Iqbal. Iqbal has amassed 8146 runs in ODI format.
Shakib hit the 300-wicket mark during Bangladesh's most recent ODI, which was played against England earlier in March. In the third and last ODI in Chattogram he claimed 300 wickets by dismissing Rehan Ahmed with a four-wicket haul. After Daniel Vettori and Sanath Jayasuriya, he was the third left-arm spinner to accomplish the feat.
