Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore was dismissed on the first ball of the ongoing match against SunRisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, registering his third golden duck in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season and his sixth overall in the league. Jagadeesha Suchith sent him back to the pavilion. Kohli flicked the ball straight to Kane Williamson at short mid-wicket.
Kohli returned to the pavilion devastated after his dismissal.
Kohli has now scored a golden duck in the IPL six times in total. Kohli previously got golden ducks against Mumbai Indians in 2008, Punjab Kings in 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017, Lucknow Super Giants in 2022, and SunRisers Hyderabad in 2017.
When Virat Kohli walked out to bat against SunRisers Hyderabad, he was on the verge of becoming the first hitter in the IPL to achieve 6,500 runs, but he'll have to wait a little longer.
In terms of the current season, Kohli started at No. 3 and had two consecutive ducks against the Lucknow Super Giants and SunRisers Hyderabad.
Kohli began opening for the franchise after that, and he scored 58 runs off 53 balls in a game against Gujarat Titans. Kohli hit 30 runs off 33 balls in the next game against Chennai Super Kings.
Kohli last hit an international century in a day-night Test against Bangladesh in 2019, and he has yet to reach the three-figure mark since then.
