Deepak Chahar, a pacer, and Washington Sundar, an all-rounder, have been selected for India's ODI team for the forthcoming three-match series in Zimbabwe. Rahul Tripathi, a middle-order batsman, has also made the 15-person shortlist, marking his first ODI call-up ever.
Many of India's first-choice players, such as regular captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, aren't included in the squad because the tour of Zimbabwe finishes five days before the Asia Cup begins in the United Arab Emirates. Shikhar Dhawan will therefore reclaim the captaincy once more.
Tripathi, who just got his first call-up to the Indian team for the country's tour of Ireland, is still uncapped across all forms but now has a chance to play in the 50-over format.
The first of the three ODIs, which will be contested on August 18, will take place in Harare. The Asia Cup begins on August 27, and the following two ODIs are on August 20 and 22.
