It was an average BBL10 season for the Renegades, winning just four games and finishing in the last spot on the ladder.
The form of Australian captain Aaron Finch was called into question on multiple occasions, and his recent performances in the T20 World Cup aren't exactly good for confidence.
Shaun Marsh is a strong player in all three formats, and he'll be good both on and off the field with some younger Renegades players.
Jamie Fraser-McGurk and Mackenzie Harvey are talented players, while the in-form Nic Maddinson takes over the captaincy and will look to lead from the front.
The bowling attack of the Renegades is good but they don't have that one T20 star who can change a game single-handedly. James Pattinson and Kane Richardson have been around for a long time though, and their experience and ability should be helpful.
Player to watch this season 2021-22 from Melbourne Renegades side –Jake Fraser-McGurk (Australia)
Fraser-McGurk made both his first-class and List A debuts for Victoria in late 2019.
The 19-year-old was on the Renegades' squad two seasons ago, and while he hasn't produced a lot of runs just yet, the experience will help him in the future.
Fraser-McGurk has a career strike rate of over 100 in both 50-over and T20 cricket. He will be trying to earn a spot in the Renegades' top order this summer.
